On Saturday, as the PISA Primavera Barczewo players were in the offensive phase and entered the field in Elblag, the aerial invader made an unexpected appearance and nearly hit an Olimpia Elbag player.

The players ran away and the football commentator started laughing at the bizarre situation.

The skydiver reacted calmly – despite landing at speed – and stopped on his slide before the referee approached to give him a yellow card much to the amusement of the crowd.

A man rushed into the field and helped the skydiver pick up his slide before the two left the field.

GoPro footage of the skydiver shows him coming to the ground in what appears to be an area of lawn, but the soccer field is displayed. Before he can change direction, he quickly takes to the field, causing a player to swiftly walk away.

Social media users reacted to the interruption by saying that the paratroopers deserved the red card instead.

“Now I’ve seen it, the yellow looks right,” said one user. ‘I have to speed up these var decisions though.’

Another said: ‘This is a clear dive (sky) like any other. Deserved a red. ‘

And this isn’t the only time a skydiver interrupts a sports match.

In the UK in 2015, Salisbury City and Chester FC players were left to watch in awe as a skydiver landed on the pitch in the second half.

He then calmly packed his slide and walked away to the cheers of 1,000 fans inside Raymond McEnhill Stadium.

Former Stoke City defender Danny Higginbotham said it was one of the strangest things he’d seen in his long career at the time.

“The weirdest thing I’ve ever seen on a football field happened today,” he said on Twitter.

‘Halfway through the second half, out of nowhere, a paratrooper landed on the pitch. I have no idea where it should have landed, but it hit the ground hard. # strange. ‘

Paratroopers have stopped sporting competitions previously, especially during a heavyweight boxing match between Riddick Bowe and Evander Holyfield in 1993.

His arrival was less popular though as he was attacked by members of the public in Las Vegas.

A paratrooper died in 2008 when he crashed in the stadium before an under-18 national team between France and Ukraine in Orleans.
