We are living in an extraordinary time to travel. After several months of staying local, the Holidays are finally given the green light from (hopefully) May 17th – just in time for what we hope will be a bountiful summer season.
Some travelers look like coiled springs, ready to go anywhere when dropping a credit card; While others are wary of the ever-changing entanglement of travel restrictions, and the risk of falling on the wrong side of someone else’s lockdown.
But one thing has never changed.
I was writing about traveling in order to The Independent For 27 years, we’ve celebrated the best that the world has to offer. At the time, the newspaper provided guidance on thoughtfully planning a trip, choosing the least impactful means of arriving at a destination and maximizing the tourism benefits for the host communities.
We are also committed to taking you to the best destinations, searching for the best deals from around the world, whether it be a week on a European beach or a sleeper train trip to Scotland.
As consumer heroes, we hold companies accountable if they treat travelers unfairly – and we provide unparalleled holiday advice about when, where, and how they can use their time and money wisely.
In my Travel Week email, I will periodically report on major developments in the travel world, as well as inspire your next trip – wherever that happens.
