Manchester City host Paris Saint-Germain tonight with the aim of ending the confrontation and reaching the Champions League final for the first time in the club’s history. City won 2-1 in Paris last week thanks to goals by Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez, and entered the second leg of the game with the knowledge that Paris Saint-Germain must score twice in Al-Ittihad tonight if they do not rely on penalties to advance. .

Paris Saint-Germain is set to start the match without Kylian Mbappe after the French striker sustained a calf injury that forced him to miss his win over Lens on Saturday. City had no fresh injury concerns and Guardiola was able to rest many of its major stars over the weekend as they neared the title with a 2–0 win over Crystal Palace. Guardiola aims to reach the Champions League final for the first time since winning the tournament with Barcelona – and he couldn’t have had a better chance.

Half time: Manchester City 1-0 Paris Saint-Germain

So far so good for City. Mahrez’s goal made them 3-1 on aggregate and on their way to a place in the final. It was a display of true discipline and defensive organization, other than their dominant performance in the second half of the first leg. But it works fine.
