Dhawan is celebrated as the Delhi Capitals Scoreboard

Shekhar Dhawan (69 out of 47 balls) continued his rich style of leading the Delhi Capitals to win seven wickets over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League 2021 match in Ahmedabad tonight. The Dhawan Championships came after Captain Mayank Agarwal hit an unbeaten 99 (58 balls) to guide the Punjab Kings to 166/6, a total that didn’t seem possible at one stage as Delhi bowlers choked them.

Sent to Bat, Punjab, who had no captain KL Rahul (suffering from appendicitis), lost two powerplay wickets, and scoring never recovered. Mayank reformed the roles with a 52-long podium with Dawid Malan (26) and another 41-long partnership with SRK (4). The captain’s late boom enabled Punjab to set a goal of 167.

While chasing after them, Prithvi Shah of Delhi and Shekhar Dhawan made the most of the powerplay as they scored 63 points for the first wicket. Dhawan, who followed up with 48 rounds with Steve Smith (25), added 36 rounds with Captain Rishabh Pant, and Delhi was home and dry. They are now top of the table with 12 points.

Mayank pushed 99 Punjab to 166/6 over Delhi

Reserve Captain Mayank Agarwal scored 99 unbeaten to lead the Kings of the Punjab to 166/6, a total that did not seem possible at one stage as the Delhi Capitals choked them in the Indian Premier League 2021 match in Ahmedabad tonight.

Sent to Bat, Punjab, who had no captain KL Rahul (suffering from appendicitis), lost two powerplay wickets, and scoring never recovered. Regular loss of stake did not help their cause.

Mayank reformed the roles with a 52-long podium with Dawid Malan (26) and another 41-long partnership with SRK (4). The captain’s late boom enabled Punjab to set a goal of 167. But Delhi batsmen are unlikely to bother. But an early share can provide an evolution.

The Delhi Capitals shall prevail over the Punjab Kings

Dubai: When the Delhi Capitals meet Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad today, the teams will have vastly different agendas. As Delhi looks to the top of the leaderboard, Punjab wants to reach the top four with the Indian Premier League 2021 reaching halfway. Punjab, however, faltered due to the absence of Captain K.L. Rahul, who is due to undergo surgery due to appendicitis.

Delhi had little to no worries, as Prithvi Shu and Shekhar Dhawan took advantage of powerplay. The absence of Ravichandran Ashwin (who has been away to support his family’s fight against COVID-19) and Amit Mishra (injured) haven’t affected them much since Axar Patel and Lalit Yadav have come forward admiringly for abuse. Captain Rishabh Pant might be tempted to fetch Ainrich Nortje instead of Pacer Kagiso Rabada.

Punjab’s batting power depends on Commander KL Rahul, so his absence would hurt. Mayank Agarwal is back after injury, and Chris Gayle was only scoring intermittently. After a sad run, Nicholas Boran must give way to Dave Malan. Bowling has been effective without being spectacular but certainly not categorical enough to stop Delhi.

So the Delhi Capitals team should jump to the top of the score table.
