Rebels kill more than a dozen in roadside attack in eastern DRC

At least 16 people were killed and eight injured in an attack by alleged rebels from the Allied Democratic Forces in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Others remain unaccounted for after an ambush on Thursday on a road between Chanichani and Mayi Moya in North Kivu province, the military said.

Civilians were traveling in a truck that was in a convoy with a military escort. When the convoy was attacked, their truck, heavily laden with goods, capsized.
