Washington. US President Joe Biden and King Abdullah of Jordan discussed Washington’s support for the modernization of the Amman F-16 fleet, the White House said in a press release.
“The leaders are thinking about the strategic defense relationship between the United States and Jordan,” said a statement released Monday following their meeting at the White House. “They discussed US support for the modernization of the Jordanian fleet of F-16 fighters, which will improve the interoperability and effectiveness of the Jordanian armed forces.”
Biden and Abdullah also discussed serious issues in Syria, especially efforts to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Syrians, the report said.
Biden also highlighted the potential for stabilization in the Middle East and expressed support for talks between Jordan and the new Israeli government.
The report says that in the coming months, the Biden administration intends to strengthen bilateral cooperation in many areas, including on economic issues.
