Orchestra performances at the Philharmonic Diwan of Petronas

Diwan Filharmonik PETRONAS (DFP) and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) strive to raise the standard of arts and culture in Kuala Lumpur in May 2021 with a host of fantastic performances:

Join MPO and discover the works of the famous Finnish composer Sibelius in a concert titled Finland! On Saturday May 1, 2021 at 3:00 PM. To lead Maestro Naohisa Furusawa, a trip with the MPO at the All-Sibelius Concert as they bring this amazing composer to life. Some of the works to be shown are Andante Festival, Valse triste, and revolutionary Finland.

Next, travel to Germany while exploring Mendelssohn’s music in a concert titled Mendelssohn’s Voyages on Saturday May 8, 2021 at 3:00 pm. Similar to Finland! Concert, it will be a concert of all Mendelssohn directed by the MPO’s resident leader, Gerard Salonga.

Baroque music fans will definitely enjoy what comes next. MPO will be presenting a concert titled The Majestic Baroque scheduled for Saturday May 22, 2021 at 8:30 pm. Naohisa Furusawa is back on the stage to do the works of Handel, Vivaldi, Marcelo and Bach. The concerts will feature MPO player Simone Ames and flute player Ignacio de Nicolas.

The month will end with a festive atmosphere as MPO celebrates Hari Raya Eid Al Fitr with a ceremony honoring legendary Malaysian composer S. Atan on Saturday May 29, 2021 at 8:30 pm. Run by Ahmed Moriz Chi Rose, Enjoy as the MPO will present great party songs such as Balik Kampung, Cahaya Aidilfitri and Indahnya Beraya Di Desa. This ceremony, full of sophistication and nostalgia, will feature the famous Malaysian artist Dato Jamal Abdullah, Jay Jay and Azalana Aziz.
