John Abraham is the latest Bollywood star to step out to gain fame and reach out to social media for a good cause.
The actor announced that he has handed over his social media accounts to the NGOs he works with so that they can help those who need emergency supplies and medical care during the second wave that has swept across India.
“We as a country are living in a very bleak situation. With every passing minute, there are more and more people who are unable to obtain oxygen, the ICU bed, the vaccine, and sometimes even food.”
However, these troubled times have brought people together, to provide support, bring about change and meet needs. Starting today, I will be handing over my social media accounts to NGOs that we have partnered with across the country, and all posted content will be handled exclusively to help connect those affected with the resources they need. The time has come for us to extend ourselves to humanity and take measures to overcome this crisis. Anything and everything to save lives and win this battle together, ”Ibrahim added.
Abraham joins celebrities like Sonu Sood, Alia Bhatt, Twinkle Khanna and Bhumi Pednekar who have all beaten Coronavirus and are now using their social media to send appeals and pay emergency numbers.
Other stars like Akshay Kumar and Salman Khan help with cash donations and provide meals for frontline workers.
Abraham, whose movie ‘Satyameva Jayate 2’ was due to be shown on May 13 for Eid al-Fitr, also announced his decision last week to delay screening of the film due to the high number of coronavirus cases in India.
The number of deaths related to the Coronavirus in the country has already exceeded 200,000, with a record number of cases exceeding 350,000 per day.
