A weird TikTok bug appears to have robbed users of their followers – and banned others from the video-sharing platform altogether.

The app confirmed a bug on Twitter at 22:25 GMT Monday evening, which reduced users’ follower accounts to zero.

“We are aware of a problem that has caused some calculations,” she said. Followers and / or Followers count to be zero. We appreciate your patience as we are working to resolve this issue. ”

After about three hours, he said at the time, “This issue is now resolved. The follower / follower count should be back to normal. Thanks for carrying with us!”

But the frustrated users took to Twitter claiming that they were completely banned from TikTok and could not access the service.

One user said, “ I am an innovator with over 2 million followers. I think it was a mistake for me to get banned because my content is mostly for kids and teens.

“I have devoted a lot of hours to creating content for this app and would like to restore my account.”

Another user was reportedly told in an email from TikTok letting them know that they weren’t old enough to have an account.

“ A friendly reminder that because there is an indication in your account that you are under the age of 13, your account has been permanently removed, ” TikTok said in the message with the strange words, posted in a screenshot on Twitter.

“According to our Terms of Use, our users under the age of 13 should have an age-appropriate experience for younger TikTok users.”

The user who posted the screenshot said, “TikTok thinks I’m underage but hasn’t submitted all of my information.”

Another user said: “My account has been entered wrongly and has been deleted by a date of birth, I am 34 and under 13 years old. How can I solve this ?!”

TikTok allows users under the age of 13 to create an account, although the minimum age requirement is 16 to use its direct messaging feature.

It also prevents users from receiving unwanted messages from other users who are not their friends and who have an age limit of over 16 years for the user to host a live broadcast.

In addition, the China-based social network does not allow sharing of videos or photos in direct messages.

Another Twitter user said that his account was blocked after incorrectly entering his birthdate.

Another tweet: “I have entered a wrong date of birth in my account and deleted it, I am 34 and under the age of 13. How can I solve this ?!”

MailOnline contacted TikTok for comment.

What is Tik Tok?

TikTok is a Chinese social media app where users can live broadcast and create short videos, music videos, and gifs with a bunch of functions.

TikTok’s motto is “Make every second count.”

It was the most downloaded app in the US in 2018 and the fourth most downloaded app in the world in 2018, ahead of Instagram and Snapchat.

TikTok is known in China as Douyin as it launched in 2016 and then became widely available worldwide in 2017.

Douyin is still the version of the app used in China, and it is available for download separately on TikTok.

The app is integrated with the popular music video lip-syncing app, Musical.ly, also based in China.

Most kids use the app to picture themselves lip-synching the strokes of the histogram.

It provides users with a wide range of colorful editing and editing tools including music and sound overlay, animated stickers, filters, and augmented reality (AR) to create short videos.

The Beijing-based social network has more than 500 million active users and the company is now worth more than $ 75 billion (£ 58 billion).
