Fortnite adds new NFL skins and gear
- Fortnite has teamed up with the NFL to bring new skins and gear to the game
- The new in-game NFL suits will all emphasize customization and flexibility
- NFL-themed emotes, hang gliders, tools and more will be implemented in the game
Epic Games, the creators of the hit video game Fortnite, have just teamed up with the NFL to bring both NFL-themed skins and gear for the hugely popular game.
According to Rachel Hoagland, vice president of the NFL and head of games and esports, the NFL was eager to partner with Epic Games to offer NFL fan audiences a great way to express their fandom within the game Fortnite … and to really tap into this cultural phenomenon we’ve seen over the past year. ‘
Fortnite players will soon be able to play with the uniforms of all 32 NFL teams and more
Players will be able to choose the uniforms of all 32 NFL teams and also customize them with a number of their choice, as well as helmets, pants and shoes from totally different teams.
Players will be able to change their number and jersey each time they use the suit, allowing for exceptional customization and flexibility. NFL uniforms will also be available for male and female characters.
“This is really very exciting for us, with avatars available as females and the ability to have females in NFL uniforms for the first time,” Hoagland said.
Player usernames and real NFL player names, however, will not appear on the back of Fortnite jerseys, meaning Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers will still have to duel on the gridiron court rather than the Fortnite map.
In addition to NFL outfits, emotes, hang gliders, and NFL-themed collection tools will also be available. The male and female referee outfits will also be available in the Fortnite item shop.
Referees will be able to signal touchdowns and first downs as “a way to bring some fun and pop culture relevance to the game,” according to Hoagland.
Notably, the deal between Epic Games and the NFL is the first time the game developer has partnered with an outside group to introduce themed skins to the game.
“We have so many football fans in Epic and we know that many fans of the game share the same enthusiasm. Allowing our players to represent their favorite teams in the game was too interesting an opportunity for us to pass up and we couldn’t be more. happy with how they turned out! ‘said Epic Games co-founder Mark Rein in a statement.
Three variants of the new skins will be available for purchase in both male and female form.
NFL-themed skins can be purchased in the Fortnite Battle Royale Item Shop for V-Bucks, just like with other outfits. Prices will be comparable with other skins currently available for purchase in the video game.
The NFL skins will be available in the Fortnite Battaglia Reale item shop starting Friday, November 9th.
