Former France defender Marcel Desailly believes Paul Pogba should leave Manchester United “to shine in the world of football”.
The former Chelsea captain claimed that Pogba only had two of the four “elements” available to him to allow the midfielder to find his fullest potential and insisted that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not understand him.
Desailly believes that France coach Didier Deschamps was able to achieve the best results from Pogba at the international level, indicating that he has not yet found that with his club.
Pogba is close to the last 12 months of his current contract at Old Trafford, and there is speculation the club may take advantage of him this summer, with Real Madrid and Juventus tied.
However, with football still feeling the economic consequences of the pandemic, it is unclear how any such move could be financed.
Desailly said Be in sports, When asked about Pogba and whether he has reached his full potential: “No, not yet, not yet, but not particularly because he is noncommittal.
Perhaps because the elements around him do not match his character and mental state.
He needs a good city. He needs a good team to play for. He needs a coach who understands him.
Deschamps modified Pogba during the World Cup, changing his system to 4-2-3-1 for Pogba.
“ Giro is up front because of Pogba, so he fits him on the left side there as a second defensive midfielder and really committed him to being the midfield captain with a chance to go forward because Kante was there.
“Of the four elements to make Pogba the best … if there were only two, it wouldn’t be enough for him to express himself.
“There are two out of every four [at Manchester United] So he might have to go elsewhere to get an extra one to be able to show this consistency and the talent that he has and shines in the football world. “
