Jack Grealish told Duke of Cambridge that he hopes to return to playing for Aston Villa within 10 days.
The villa captain has been out of action due to a leg injury since mid-February, and Dean Smith’s team have won only three of the 11 games they missed.
Villa was reluctant to set a timeframe for Greelish’s return, but speaking to the Duke on Tuesday, the 25-year-old playmaker said: “I hope 1 week to 10 days.”
Duke, a villa fan, was at the club’s Bodymoor Heath training ground to open its new high-performance center.
Grealish’s previous attempt at a comeback had to be thwarted, but, speaking before Villa’s win over Everton on Saturday, Smith said: “Jack’s test came back positive, so we’ve gradually started uploading him this week. We’re a bit hesitant with what happened last time.” .
Villa’s game with Manchester United on Sunday is likely to come too soon for Grealish, but he is likely to be in a home competition next Thursday against Everton.
