The game, currently in the midst of its Halloween-themed Fortnitemares event, is also slated to release a new patch on October 31, just in time for the holiday.

Many fans have speculated that it could include new content for the Fortnitemares event, with the long-promised gifting system even being a possibility.

Here’s all you need to know about the new Halloween skins, Fortnitemares challenges and gifting system ahead of the new patch’s upcoming release.

Fortnite’s new Fortnitemare event features new challenges, quests, enemies and much more

Fortnite Halloween skins

A number of new Halloween skins have been added to celebrate the upcoming holiday.

The flagship skin is the new Deadfire skin, a ‘reactive’ skin whose appearance is altered based on how gamers play in matches that costs 2,000 V-Bucks. It’s set to be joined by a new vampire-themed skin called Sanctum and other Halloween-themed skins such as Arachne, Spider-Knight, Onesie and Guan-Yu.

In addition, other cosmetic items such as the Dark Shard pickaxe, Shackled Stone Back Bling and more are set to be available.

Fortnitemares challenges

Fortnitemares, an ongoing in-game event from October 23 to November 26, has offered new monsters, quests and items for players during its run. In addition, it’s also scared up come new challenges for players to do.

The Fortnitemares challenges set to be implemented include:

  • Destroy 10 Elite Cube Monsters for 500 XP
  • Damage 2,500 Cube Fragments for 500 XP
  • Deal 1,000 damage to Cube Monsters in a single match for 500 XP
  • Visit 4 different Corrupted Areas in a single match for 500 XP
  • Destroy 3 Cube Fragments for 500 XP
  • Complete 14 Fortnitemares challenges for 500 XP

As a reward, players can obtain a Dark Engine Glider.

Fortnite gifting system

In addition to the new skins and challenges, there are also reports that Epic Games may introduce a gifting system that allows players to transfer special gifts to one another in the video game, something that’s been hinted at since June 2018 but has largely been kept under wraps since.

Data miners are thought to have uncovered evidence that players will be able to add colored wrapping paper to their in-game gifts through a new Gift Wrap tab, with colors specifically being blue, yellow, red and purple.

As of yet, no official implementation date for the much-anticipated gifting system has been confirmed by Epic Games.
