AMHERST — School finance director Sean Mangano announced Friday that he will be leaving the job at the end of the calendar year.
Mangano is currently the director of finance for the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District, Amherst Public Schools and Pelham Public Schools. He has been working in finance in the districts since 2010, he said.
“With mixed emotions, I’ve decided to resign from my position as Finance Director to pursue other professional goals,” he wrote in an email to School Committee members on Friday afternoon.
He told the Gazette “nothing specific” triggered his resignation and that plans to pursue other career goals, such as potentially getting his Certified Public Accountant license.
“He’s been a strong asset to the districts over the past 10 years,” said Superintendent Michael Morris. The district will look for his replacement “very soon,” he said.
Mangano has also been working as the town’s capital projects manager since February. He said he will work for the town until he leaves the school district.
Town Manager Paul Bockelman announced the news in his recent memo to the Town Council and wrote, “Sean is a talented leader, amazing communicator, and supremely calm presence in a very difficult job in a challenging community.”
